Understanding the label
Labelling is an area currently under review. The subject can be complex and the laws are changing. Essentially, in order to protect the consumer, labels and any literature should be informative and must not mislead by word or implication. There is certain information you must include if you are selling unpacked foods, loose or ready to eat. There are many more rules if you are selling pre-packed foods. However much you think you know it is always wise to get your labels and packaging checked by you local trading standards officer.
